The Clanton Municipal Court has jurisdiction and authority for all motor vehicle and traffic violations, misdemeanors, and municipal ordinance
violations. The jurisdiction and authority of the Clanton Municipal Court extends to offenses committed within the corporate limits of The City of
To provide adjudication of municipal criminal and traffic cases in a prompt, fair, knowledgeable and respectful manner. The court will recognize
the interest of the citizens of Clanton in enforcement of local laws and also recognize the interest of defendants in receiving fair treatment and due
process of law. The court shall remain independent and objective, but recognize its role in the community and promote an understanding of the court and
the role of the judicial function.
The Clanton Municipal Court Office is located inside the Clanton Municipal Complex. The Clanton Municipal Court and The Clanton Police Department
share space at 601 1st Avenue, Clanton, Alabama, 35045.
The Clanton City Hall parking lot is designated as visitor parking for law enforcement or court related business. Please do not park in the back
parking lot of the Municipal Complex as this is designated for “Emergency Vehicles Only”. If you park anywhere other than the designated area, your
vehicle is subject to removal.
Hours of Operation
The Court Office is open for normal business from 8:00 A.M. until 4:30 P.M each weekday. The court office is closed on weekends and holidays.
The court office is closed in observance of the following holidays:
- New Year's Day
- Martin Luther King Day
Traffic and Misdemeanor Court is held each Tuesday promptly at 3:00 P.M.
If you are scheduled to be in court, be sure to arrive early. If you fail to arrive on time or you Fail To Appear, you will be found in Contempt
of Court and you may be incarcerated.
Failure to Appear
If you are scheduled to appear in court, it is recommended that you arrive early. If you arrive late or fail to appear, you may be held in
Contempt of Court which may result in incarceration. Contempt of Court is a serious offense.
